World Qualifiers Stipend: In December 2007, the teachers of the Southern Region decided to financially assist 5 of our World Qualifiers with $500 for each dancer, to go towards travel expenses to the World Championships. At the 2008 Oireachtas in Orlando, there were 186 World Qualifiers and the dancers' names were drawn randomly. The winners and their respective schools are:

  • Christopher Parsons, Tir na Greine
  • Isabel Mendosa, Drake
  • Meghan Grendzier, Drake
  • Christopher Johnson, Broesler
  • Emma Hoagland, Nashville Irish Step Dancers

This is the second year for the $500 dance stipend and we plan to continue this World Qualifier stipend every year and aid more dancers in attending the prestigious World Championships in representing the Southern Region and North America.

Congratulations to these dancers and best wishes to all Southern Region dancers and teachers who will be representing our region in Philadelphia.
