Additional World Qualifiers from the IDTANA–Southern Region Oireachtas

**Updated 12/19/2009**

The CLRG selection committee has announced that two IDTANA-Southern Region teachers, Kevin Broesler and Christina Ryan, will be judging at the 2010 Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne in Glasgow, Scotland. Dancers earning a Worlds qualification from either of these dancing schools will therefore not be able to compete at the 2010 event.  They will however retain their qualification status for 2011 Worlds competition.

As a result of this announcement, as well as tabulation errors in determining the number of World qualifiers for five competitions at the 2009 Southern Region Oireachtas, the following dancers are now eligible to represent the IDTANA-Southern Region in Scotland:

Competition # 1 Ladies/Girls 20 and Over

Emily Fondren (NISD)

Competition # 2 Ladies/Girls U20

Patricia Palermo (Tir ne Greine)

Sara Barton (McGinley)

Competition # 4 Girls U17

Caitlin Campbell (McTeggart)

Competition # 5 Girls U16

Kelley Aucello (Harling)

Chelsea Bartolomeo (Rince ne h’Eireann)

Caitlin Ward (Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota)

Katie Kilner (Culkin)

Competition # 6 Girls U15

Moira Ragen (Culkin)

Competition # 7 Girls U14

Ally MacLaughlin (Rince ne h’Eireann)

Monica Freissle (Rince ne h’Eireann)

Clare Roca (Drake)

Competition # 22 Boys U12

Brian Clancy (O’Neill-James)

In several competitions, due to tabulation errors more Worlds qualifiers were announced at the Southern Region Oireachtas than should have been.  Those errors were taken into account in naming the additional qualifiers above. In all cases, competitions now reflect the accurate number of qualifiers, as approved by CLRG.

Update on Catholic Services during the Oireachtas

The Oireachtas Host Committee, despite ongoing efforts, has not been able to arrange for Catholic mass services to be held at the Sheraton Hotel on during the Oireachtas.  Unfortunately, the committee has been unable to find a local priest who is able to come to the site of the event to celebrate mass. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our competitors and their families.

There are, however, several churches and chapels within a few miles of the hotel. Follow this link to a Google Map showing these locations.  (Opens in a new window)
